Diving in a submarine canyon with wreck. The 30-meter long ship 'El Condesito' ran aground off the coast of the southern tip of the island of Tenerife in 1971. The unfortunate accident left two important legacies: the Rasca lighthouse, which was built to prevent a repetition of the misfortune, and the wreck of 'El Condesito', one of Tenerife's most unique dive sites. The wreck, fragmented into several pieces, is at the bottom of a 20-meter deep submarine canyon flanked by prismatic-shaped walls and frequented by abundant marine life. The anchorage point of the vessel is located 3.7 nautical miles from the port of the large tourist center of Los Cristianos, at a point where the currents can increase the difficulty of the dive to medium level.
The site is close to shore and is home to numerous octopus, cuttlefish and vieja. The dive usually includes a walk around the neighboring spectacular prism-shaped rocks, which seem to invite the diver to climb their steps on foot. Its shallow depth and good visibility make it a good wreck for snorkeling.
